General Information :
The local currency is the Saudi riyal, which is pegged to the dollar at a rate of SR3.75:$1. Credit cards are accepted nationwide, and ATMs are commonplace. A local bank account is necessary to change foreign currency, although this can also be done at hotels. The workweek runs from Saturday though Wednesday. Public sector hours are generally from 7am to 3pm, while private sector hours vary. It is not uncommon for shops to close at 1pm and reopen from 4pm until 8pm. There are also short closing times for prayer.
