Be Part of the OBG Team

OBG welcomes applications for our entry-level international positions from around the world.

Careers Overview

These positions are highly sought-after, as they involve postings to typically three or four different countries in the first three years. Successful applicants often demonstrate good written and spoken communication skills in more than one language, a strong academic career, prior travel experience, a wide range of interests, sensitivity to different cultures, and evidence of rigorous time management skills. Many have advanced degrees, often undertaken in countries different than their first degree.

Our interview and selection process is rigorous and intensive. Initial training will take place in Dubai or Istanbul, followed by early field assignment. Talented staff will be given opportunities early in their career to represent the organisation in meeting and interviewing senior figures, offering unbiased and insightful opinions for national and international press, and forging new research and business relationships.

OBG demands all staff operate with a high level of maturity, personal responsibility and integrity to meet the demands of these challenging and fulfilling roles.

Sample Roles

Analyst: OBG employs the most experienced and highly qualified analysts to compile its economic coverage. Substantial post-graduate experience is required for consideration for these positions, and it is likely successful applicants will have a body of prior analytical writing for other respected publications around the world.
Accounting Associate: Part of the Finance team, accounting associates work closely with a number of OBG offices, managing payments, resolving reconciliation issues and undertaking financial data entry across all regions. The department runs SAP, so familiarity with this system is a benefit to anyone with an interest in applying to the accounts team.
Logistics Coordinator: Part of the Operations division, which manages complex distribution networks, logistics coordinators negotiate shipments of reports to OBG markets on four continents, monitor stock of OBG reports at all printing hubs and local offices, ensure customer deliveries arrive on time and supplies materials to our local offices in more than 30 countries.
IT Specialist: Supporting a network of staff across more than 30 countries, our IT specialists oversee technical solutions for all works stations, as well as OBG’s central networks and file storage solutions. Based in the Istanbul and Manila offices, a typical day may start with a support call from a team in Asia that needs access to a server, and end by recommending laptop specifications for a new staff member in Latin America.
Marketing Assistant: Marketing assistants liaise directly with field teams, clients and suppliers to maintain a smooth flow of information and communications. They are responsible for ensuring that all internal records, design and multimedia files, marketing collaterals, press clippings, advertisements and other materials are kept up to date. A typical day could include working with graphic designers to produce launch materials for a new report on Nigeria, checking the status of subscriptions for a contract in Mexico, and maintaining OBG’s internal archive of videos, photographs and quotes. Marketing assistants also assist the PR and video content director with requests related to video production and post-production, along with regular administrative processes.
Project Coordinator: Each research team has a project coordinator (PC), whose role is to not only support the team, but also liaise with local partners and suppliers. Always hired from within the country, PCs need to have excellent communication skills in both their own language and English. A PC’s typical day involves spending a lot of time on the phone arranging meetings, as well as collating and recording information on central OBG systems such as the CRM. Providing administrative assistance and local knowledge, they are the engine of each team.
PR Coordinator: PR coordinators are responsible for maintaining relationships with the press and various PR agencies in each of the regions OBG covers. They support OBG’s global communications team, ensuring a steady flow of relevant information to media, arranging interviews for regional editors and analysts, and keeping a record of all press contacts and coverage. A typical day may include distributing content to the press in Kuwait, reviewing and coordinating the translation of a press release for Morocco and compiling an archive of OBG’s press cuttings, which can amount to more than 500 in a single month.
Art Editor: Working closely with OBG’s creative director, art editors are responsible for laying out text and creating graphs and infographics for the company’s wide range of digital and print products. A typical day may begin with creating an advertisement for a high-profile Saudi client, and finish with incorporating a hand-drawn sketch for an interviewee in Indonesia.
